Permanent Outdoor Lights in Etobicoke
Every November, someone climbs a ladder with a box of tangled lights. Every January, they climb it again to take them down. Permanent lights go up once and stay.
Permanent outdoor lights are LED lights mounted once along your roofline that stay up all year. You control them from an app, so the same lights are warm white on a Tuesday, orange for Halloween and red and green for Christmas. We install Govee's permanent outdoor lights on homes across Etobicoke.
Below: photos of our installs, how they compare with regular Christmas lights, which Govee kits we install, what your house needs, and what it costs.
Our installs
What do permanent lights look like on a real house?
Like this. These are three of our own installs: one in warm white, the everyday setting, one in orange and one in red. The colour is a setting in the app, not a different set of lights.

Permanent Christmas lights
Are permanent lights the same as permanent Christmas lights?
Yes. "Permanent Christmas lights" is what a lot of people call them, because Christmas is when most people first want them. The real difference from regular Christmas lights is what happens the other eleven months.
| Question | Regular Christmas lights | Permanent outdoor lights |
|---|---|---|
| Goes up | Every November | Once |
| Comes down | Every January | It doesn't |
| Colours | Whatever the string came with | Any colour, changed in the app |
| The rest of the year | In a box in the garage | Warm white every night, or off |
| Ladder trips | Two a year, at least | The install, and that's on us |
So the question isn't really "Christmas lights or permanent lights". It's whether you want to do the ladder every year, or never.

Govee kits
Which Govee permanent lights do you install?
Govee's two main kits. They look alike on the box, and the biggest difference between them is cutting.
Permanent Outdoor Lights 2
Sold in 50, 100 or 150 ft, and one set stops at 150 ft. Because it can't be cut, we plan the run around the length you buy.
Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro
Sold in 100, 150 or 200 ft, in white or black. To install it properly, we cut it to fit your roofline, so the run ends exactly where it should.
Before the install
What does your house need before permanent lights go up?
Not much, but these four things decide how smooth the job is.
- A roofline you want lit. The eaves, the peaks, the garage. Measure what you can from the ground, and use our length planner to add it up.
- An outdoor outlet. For the Permanent Outdoor Lights 2, Govee says to use a covered Class A GFCI outlet. If you don't have one near where the run starts, a licensed electrician adds it. We don't do electrical work.
- Trim in decent shape. The clips mount along the roof edge, so loose or damaged trim is worth fixing first.
- Wi-Fi at the front of the house. The lights connect over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, so check your signal reaches where the control box will sit.
Cost
How much do permanent outdoor lights cost?
There are two parts: the lights and the install.
The lights. Govee sells its kits directly, and its prices change often, so check Govee's site for the current price of the length you need. A longer roofline means a longer kit or extension lights. If you'd rather not buy it yourself, we can supply the kit.
The install. It depends on how much roofline you want lit, how many peaks and corners there are, and how high the house is. Every house gets its own quote: send us the details and we'll tell you what yours costs.

Done with the ladder every year?
Tell us which Govee kit you have or want, and roughly how big the house is. A photo from the street helps. We'll tell you what the install involves.
