Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro Installation in Etobicoke

The Pro is the Govee kit you can cut. That's the good news and the catch: a cut can't be undone, so where it goes matters.

Govee Pro installation means mounting Govee's cuttable permanent lights along your roofline and cutting the run to fit. The Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro comes in 100, 150 or 200 ft, in white or black, and one set goes up to 200 ft. To install it properly, we cut it so the run ends exactly where your roofline does.

Below: why the Pro gets cut, which Pro kit you need, what else the install needs, and how it compares with the Lights 2.

Cut to fit

Why does the Pro have to be cut?

Because rooflines don't come in 100, 150 or 200 ft. Yours might be 112 ft across the front with two peaks and a garage. Buy the length just above it, and the extra has to go somewhere.

With the Lights 2, which can't be cut, the extra gets carried around a corner or along a side eave. With the Pro, it comes off. Govee says to cut and connect the lights following its user manual. We cut the run where it needs to end and connect it the way the manual says, so the lights stop at the corner instead of wrapping past it.

Pro options

Which Pro kit do I need?

Pick the length just above your roofline. The rest gets cut off at the install.

100 ft

Model H706A, with 60 lights. A modest front: one or two rooflines.

150 ft

Model H706B. The mid-size kit, and the longest you can run without Govee's driver module.

200 ft

Model H706C, with 120 lights and the driver module in the box. The longest Pro.

Every length comes in white or black. Need a little more? Add 16.4 ft extension lights, up to 200 ft in total. Not sure? The length planner has a Pro mode that shows how much gets cut off.

Before the install

What else does a Pro install need?

  • A driver module past 150 ft. Govee says the Pro "cannot be directly extended past 150ft without a Govee driver module". The 200 ft kit already includes one.
  • A plan for the power adapter. Govee lists the Pro's adapter for indoor use, so where it plugs in gets worked out before anything is mounted.
  • Wi-Fi where the control box sits. The app is how you change colours and schedules, so the signal has to reach.
  • No electrical work. If the house needs a new or moved outlet, that's a job for a licensed electrician first. We install the lights only.

Pro or Lights 2

Should I get the Pro or the Lights 2?

The biggest difference is cutting. You can't cut the Permanent Outdoor Lights 2, which comes in 50, 100 or 150 ft. You can cut the Pro, which comes in 100, 150 or 200 ft. Longer rooflines, and houses with lots of peaks and corners, are where the Pro's cut-to-fit matters most.
